The Golden Route of Tibet Rail holiday tour is a journey to the “Roof of the World via the famous China-Tibet Qingzang Railway to Lhasa the capital of Tibet. Once in Tibet, there are stops and visits to places of considerable cultural and historic interest such as the iconic Potala Palace in Lhasa, and hotel stays in Tsedang the “Cradle of Tibetan Civilization”, Gyantse the “Heroic City” because of its battle during the British invasion in 1904, and Shigatse a gateway to Mount Everest.
Because access to Tibet is somewhat restricted the flight into Tibet goes is via Xian, where there is a carefully planned 3-Night stay in a centrally located luxury hotel with private tours to most Xian major tourist attractions including the Forbidden City. From there you take an Express train to Xining that connects with the world famous “Sky Road” train to Lhasa – the start of a truly amazing journey.

The tour hotels are the Shangri-La Hotel, Lhasa | Tsetang Hotel, Tsetang | Gyanste Hotel, Gyanste | Qomo Langzong Hotel, Shigatse, hotels outside of Lhasa can be subject to change due to local conditions.
The Mount Everest Base Camp accommodation is provided at the Rongphu Monastery Hotel & Guest House or at the Campsite Nomad Tent House, subject to seasonal changes and local weather conditions. Clients must be aware that accommodation in both locations is very basic, toilets and washing facilities are shared – be prepared!
